This won’t win any competitions for authentic pasta dishes. Our son wanted a pasta recipe that he could make using some everyday ingredients that he’s likely to find in the fridge (and easy to make).
We use the inexpensive ham you buy for sandwiches (we call it plastic ham) James likes the tang of o sour cream which you could use to replace the cream in this recipe
360g Farfalle pasta
1 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
300g mushrooms, sliced
100g ham, chopped
120g frozen peas
100ml cream or sour cream
40g cheddar cheese, grated
Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the farfalle to the pack instructions.
In a large frying pan on a medium heat, add the oil and sauté the onions until soft.
Turn the heat up and add the mushrooms and cook for 4-5 minutes. Next add the ham and peas and cream and allow to bubble for a few minutes. Turn the heat to low.
Once the pasta is cooked, drain and add to the frying pan giving it a good stir so that everything is coated with cream, season with salt and pepper then stir through the cheese.
