The American Signal crayfish have infested our steams and rivers. They do a huge amount of damage to our indigenous species and to the river banks; it’s our duty to catch them and eat them – they’re delicious!
But, if you fancy trying your hand at catching some of these tasty treats, please make sure you have permission from the land-owner and you’ll need a license from the Environmental Agency to ensure that you won’t be fishing anywhere where the last few of our indigenous White Clawed crayfish might still be hanging-on.
We nicknamed this monster ‘Crayzilla’. He was a huge crayfish, almost as big as a small lobster, and just as tasty!
This is a technique I found for putting lobsters to sleep – seems to work just as well on crayfish too.
