What We Do

The current trend for ‘underground’ dining, or ‘pop-up’ restaurants, is a very simple concept which, I understand, has been inspired by the Cuban Paladares. These family-run restaurants opened all over Cuba in people’s houses in the 1970s and 1980s serving authentic, wholesome and inexpensive food and were encouraged as part of the country’s democratic economic reforms.

I have adopted this idea and now run my successful supper club in North Oxfordshire. I serve excellent quality, five course dinners in the relaxed and informal dining room of my home. Occasionally, I add unusual events such as my ‘Woodland Pop-up’ or curry nights under my splendid Raj Tent.

We’re not licensed to sell alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own, which means you can bring the wines you love and not pay expensive restaurant prices. Any wine you don’t drink on the night, you take home with you to enjoy another day.

Dining at The Secret Supper Society gives you restaurant-quality meals served in a home-from-home environment but you won’t have to do the preparation, cooking or clearing up! I ask for a donation to cover the cost of ingredients, preparation and overheads. The suggested donations are a fraction of the cost of any equivalent standard restaurant!

I set delicious, balanced menus to suit the produce available at the time of year. There aren’t any choices on the menu, but I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed! The ingredients are always of the very best quality sourced either locally, from my own garden, or directly from Billingsgate and Smithfields markets in London. Please arrive promptly as there is one sitting. On arrival, we’ll take your coats and show you to the dining room. Your wine and soft drinks will be kept chilled until you want them; red wine is allowed to breathe on your table. We provide cold, filtered still water.

Unlike the comedy routines you may have seen on TV ‘Home Dining’ programmes, my food is first class, expertly prepared, presented and cheerfully served by myself my husband and our lovely waitresses. We provide subtle background music or, if you prefer, you can plug in your iPod and play your own (as long as the other guests approve!).

At the end of the meal, as the tables are cleared, you can relax and enjoy a game of Table Trivia or just sit and chat. We can relax a bit too and, if you don’t mind, might join you for a chat and to make sure that you enjoyed the evening and your meal.


My fabulous dinners have a suggested donation of £47 per person for a five course meal,  which includes fresh bread, table water, tea or coffee and homemade chocolates (prices vary for bespoke menus for private dinners). This covers the cost of the ingredients and preparation of the dinners as well as my wonderful waiters and overheads such as washing-up supplies and laundering the tablecloths. My prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of food that I prepare (as I’m constantly being told by my guests!).

Please do remember (and make sure your guests know too) that I am only able to accept cash – no cheques or credit cards please! 

You can save a lot of the cost of dining out because you bring your own wine and soft drinks (still, refrigerated water is provided). Anything you don’t drink on the night will be re-corked and given back to you when you leave. We don’t charge corkage.


An absolutely fabulous night with friends, in the comfort of Jules & Nicks home. You're made to feel welcome as soon as you step inside & they look after you from that moment until you leave. The food was fabulous.

Have wanted to visit for a long time and last night we finally made it!! What a hidden gem this place is. Fabulous food; wonderful, welcoming atmosphere; perfect hosts. Am already planning a return visit. If you want a treat and something different you won’t be disappointed.

If you are looking for a fantastic evening, with mouth watering food and amazing people hosting you in there home this is the place to go. An experience everyone should encounter (I have more than I can count on one hand !) the waiting list is MORE than worth the wait!

What a find! We visited Jules, Nick and Flora yesterday evening for one of her restaurant nights and enjoyed one of the most welcoming and fun evenings ever. The food was exquisite, top quality fare, the service perfect.

If you want good food, good service and a good atmosphere then you need to get to the Secret Supper in Somerton. I have made numerous visits and always look forward to my return and what Jules has in store for us that evening.

Most welcoming home. We celebrated a very special couples silver wedding anniversary . Company terrific and we were treated to a most superb meal. Great menu, faultless presentation and even better taste ! Would love to visit again . Thank you for a superb evening.

Due to the very nature of Supper Clubs, I prepare and cook all the food myself without a small army of assistants and chefs behind me. Therefore, it is with regret that dietary preferences, intolerances and vegan diets cannot be catered for. However, vegetarian/pescatarian options can be provided for on certain events. Please feel free to contact me regarding medical conditions and allergies and I will see if I can help. Please note I cannot cater for severe nut or egg allergies as I only have the one kitchen.
