It’s taken me a few days to write this – the keys on my computer were SO LOUD with a hangover that spoke of eight weeks hard work and an evening of whey-hey!

Thank you to all of you who voted and made this event possible. It’s my biggest pleasure to meet and support brilliant local businesses and then tell you about them so you can enjoy them too! Here’s a reminder of the winners so you can see what makes them so special over the next 12 months.

I think this year’s party was the best ever (sorry previous winners, come back and nail it for 2022!). The Ashmolean rooftop had never been more necessary than on the day we held the Awards – that freak hot spell where it reached 30 degrees – and it was just stunning. It’s the second time we’ve used the Rooftop Restaurant there for our Awards and I can totally recommend it as a venue.

The food was incredible – check out this from the brilliant Oxford-based Lamb Catering…

…they took all the hassle, put it in their back pocket and we didn’t see it all evening. They served, poured, tidied and had quietly packed up and vacated before we’d even noticed. Will definitely be using those guys again.
Massive thanks too to Levin Wines. The Chalfont-based company is internationally renowned – Lynne and David Levin previously owned 5 star The Capital Hotel hotel in London and they own the Loire Valley wine domaine Levin – which we pretty much drank dry on the night!
The stiletto biscuits from The Long Dog were delicious and the rhubarb gin cocktail from Old Amersham Gin were fantastic and seriously I just love their design too. Such cool labels don’t you think?

Goodie bags were goody indeed, filled with lovely local brands – a delicious slab of Montezuma Chocolate (find the new Oxford store on Queen St), Saltee hand sanitiser (a handbag essential these days), tipple from Henley-based Mr Hobbs Gin, 100 Acres bodywash and vitamin-infused Tcha Tea (which I’m sure most of our guests will have needed the next morning…).

And last but not least, for the first time this year we had a local sponsor, Lightfoots Solicitors in Thame. It was great to see Monica and Louise from the Lightfoots team mingling with the winners – hopefully they weren’t nobbled for too much free legal advice (OK I asked, sue me!).

Our Muddy HQ afterparty was at Wilding just around the corner in Jericho. We sat in the amazing outdoor area on a night that felt almost Balearic with the weather still warm and Champagne flowing.
So that’s it for another year. Back to the day job of helping you to make the most of where you live. (Clue: click for What’s On near you this month, plus the loveliest local arboretums to watch the leaves change and the latest news in Bucks & Oxon).
