New supper club alert!
Muddy loves an al fresco dinner party (food just tastes better outside, no?), so we’re thrilled to hear about a new rural supper club on our patch. Wild Feasts at Oxmoor Farm is set in the Chilterns countryside in Great Hampden, and is playing host to a rolling roster of hot new chefs this summer, all using local ingredients and suppliers (natch). Set up by local boys Paddy Maynard and Harry Hope-Morley, Wild Feasts at Oxmoor Farm is all about cooking over open flame with seasonally available ingredients, and there are feasts with guest chefs planned up until mid-September.
Next up is author and chef Joe Woodhouse, who cut his teeth and Vanilla Black and Towpath Café, on 9 July. Veggie fans should book up ASAP, as the menu includes dishes like tomato broth and herb dumplings, fire roasted seasonal veg, walnut sauce and lemon chilli dressing and roasted carrots with goats curd, fennel seeds, chilli and herb. Anyone else’s stomach rumbling?
Say hello to…
Oxford foodies missing Oli’s Thai will be pleased to hear that Elle’s Deli has opened in its place – and what’s more, you might be able to snag some Oli’s dishes there! Open Tuesday to Saturday, 9.30am to 4.30pm, Elle’s Deli serves up mouthwatering charcuterie, oils, sauces and more, as well as a selection of hot dishes – including some you might have spotted previously on the Oli’s menu (hello, aubergine curry and papaya salad!).
If you’re a fan of fash brand Scamp and Dude‘s signature leopard print and lightning bolts (you’re in good company – Laura Whitmore, Emma Bunting, Vicky McClure and Stephanie Beatriz have all been spotted sporting S&D pieces), then good news! Their first flagship store is arriving in Marlow on 9 July, replacing Hypescape on the High Street. Expect womenswear, childrenswear and accessories in neon brights, poppy pastels and metallics.
Also opening in Marlow this summer is the newest spot to sip, The Mixing Jug. Stop by Liston Court for your smoothie and juice fix – or, if you prefer your drinks a little naughtier, a coffee or cocktail. One of each, please.
It’s three for three for Marlow! Also opening in Liston Court in August, Your Story Bridal is due to stock a curated range of designer wedding dresses, as well as all manner of pretty fripperies to complete your bridal look. If you’re tying the knot any time soon, they’re already taking appointments.
Finally, we might have a slightly longer wait for The Journeyman Inn to open in Gerrards Cross (it’s slated for an Autumn opening date), but we’ve no doubt it’ll be worth it – not least because owners Oakman Inns are also behind Muddy faves The Pointer, Brill and The Navigation Inn, Cosgrove. Expect a pleasantly varied drinks menu and Mediterranean-inspired menu – and watch this space for the opening date as we get it.
Sew good
Fancy learning a new skill this summer? Muddy Award-winner Thomas Tyrell has launched his brand new cushion-making course at his studio in Great Missenden, which teaches you how to create your own patterned fabric and then magically transform it into an envelope cushion. The next workshop takes place on 5 July, and costs £85 for a three-hour lesson (including a break for coffee and cake, of course).
Year of the Tiger

My, what big teeth you have! This handsome fella is Woburn Safari Park‘s newest addition, a four-year-old Amur tiger named Dmitri. If you’re hitting Woburn with the kids this summer, you’ll easily be able to spot him in his new enclosure with the zoo’s female tiger Minerva, as he’s an absolute whopper at 165kg. There are fewer than 500 Amur tigers left in the wild, so everyone has their fingers crossed for the arrival of cubs at the zoo in the near future. No pressure, Dmitri!
Meet Muddy!
If you’re hitting the last ever Cornbury Festival on 8-10 July, keep your eye out for something pink and Muddy! Yep, we’ll be there at our very own Tiki Bar – find us near the Riverside Stage and Waitrose tent for hula hooping, limbo dancing and the chance to win an epic £11k Cornish escape. See you there!
