This sustainable, family-run farm shop famous for its Ten Mile Veg boxes, is already taking Christmas orders, with a choice of 7 organic veg boxes, D’Oyley’s free-range bronze turkeys and chickens, Sandy Lane Farm free-range meat and extras like fruit, cakes, bread, cheese, tea, coffee and more… You can to get your order in by 20 Nov but can amend it up to 12 Nov, with collection slots allocated closer to the time. If you want to browse, 22 & 23 Dec are the designated Christmas shopping days for foodie bits and gifts.
Worton Kitchen Garden, Cassington
Stocking everything from Cornish mackerel to pink grapefruit and pistachio cake, Worton Organic Garden is open Wed-Sun from 10am-4pm. Click and collect is available during open hours, with Christmas slots yet to be available online, and delivery Thurs – Sun between 4.30 and 7.30pm.
The Blue Texel has got Christmas nailed, with turkey, cockerel, goose, duck, 28 day aged beef, lamb, pork, gammon, and all the trimmings available, as well as cheese and cheese board accompaniments, charcuterie meats, fresh olives, walnuts and dates. You can also sneak the odd gift into your basket – seasonal gins (cranberry & clementine gin anyone?), English wine, or Smokey Single Malt Whiskey, should satisfy most tastes in tipples. Order asap to get your first choice.
Brown’s at Park Farm, Middleton Stoney
Bicester locals can pick up meat and free-range eggs directly from the source at Park Farm, with plenty of pork, lamb and beef products available to pre-order and pick up on designated pop-up shop days – the next ones are 4 & 5 Dec. Obviously, you’ll need to plan in advance for the meat, but eggs can be bought every day from the farm gate.
Crazy Bear Farm Shop, Stadhampton
Recreate the Crazy Bear experience at home with the farm shop, which not only stocks meat and fish, cheese and veg, but also offers homemade pies, quiches and pasties as well as (world-beating) fresh Thai curries and accompaniments. Christmas hampers and festive meats are available to order now including Gloucestershire Old Spot Pork and Ham from the farm itself and orchard-reared free-range bronze turkeys from the Cotswolds.
Dews Meadow Farm Shop, East Hanney
You can pop into Dews Meadow Farm Shop to place your festive order or do it online, where the complete product listing is linked from the homepage. There’s meat galore – geese, ducks, cockerels, large chickens, gammons, hams, pork, beef, lamb joints and sausages and bacon. Pre-order and collect or, if you live locally, delivery is free for orders over £50. Famous for their pork products, Dews Meadow is not one for the veggies in the family.
Millets Farm is open 7 days a week (9am-5.30pm), and offers fruit and veg grown on the farm, as well as meat and fish, cheeses and truly excellent homemade cakes. Pop in or choose to click & collect Weds-Sat by ordering on the Christmas orders page, especially if you don’t trust yourself not to get carried away browsing in the festive marquee of Christmas goodies.
The Christmas orders page is open on the Q Gardens website until 12 Dec – so for anything more last-minute, you’ll need to pop into the shop itself. As well as all the Christmas meats, there’s fruit, veg, fish, pies, cheese and drinks. It’ll all be handpicked and packed, ready for collection from the car park on your chosen date, up to Christmas Eve.
Less traditional farm shop and more produce delivery service, Produce Warriors is an indie family business that delivers boxes of fruit, veg and groceries within a 60-mile radius of Banbury – ideal if you’d rather support local than scrabble for a Waitrose slot (spoiler alert: they’ve already gone). Plus, all the packaging is 100% recycled, so there’s serious eco creds there too.
Blue Tin Produce, Chiltern Hills
As well as running a rustic outdoor coffee bar, Blue Tin’s farm shop is open 9am – 3pm Weds – Sat, selling an array of local products and handmade gifts. The big selling point is the delicious, ethical meats from rare breeds including its famous Dexter cattle, which has won them multiple awards. The Christmas order form is available online, with a variety of collection slots available for the week up to Christmas. You can always follow up with an email if you want to add anything nearer the time.
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
Peterley Manor Farm, Great Missenden
This is a double whammy, as not only is the excellent Farm Shop at Peterley Manor Farm open for business, but so is the new Barn Cafe, and if the food at the old incarnation, the Wild Strawberry Cafe, is anything to go by, it’s going to be a real treat. That means you can pick up a weekly grocery shop and a slap-up lunch or afternoon tea to reward yourself (just make sure you book ahead). The Christmas orders page is open on the website and features every meat you could want to serve at Christmas as well as cooking ingredients, condiments, stuffing and gravy. For collection 22-24 Dec.
The Black Horse Farm Shop, Fulmer
Originally opened in March 2020, the farm shop arm of popular South Bucks pub The Black Horse proved such a hit with locals that it’s still open for business today. Open every day from 8am to 6pm (4pm on Sundays), it offers fruit and veg, bread and pastries and dairy and meat. Now taking orders for Christmas turkey, ham, gammon, pork and chicken, as well as Christmas trees!
You can’t get fresher than a dairy that specialises in raw milk, but it’s not all about the white stuff at this bijou farm shop. Expect plenty of delicious local meats, baked goods and wine, as well as essentials and produce like jams and chutneys. No Christmas ordering yet available, but it’s open for browsing (and coffee) Tues-Sun.
A meat-eater’s haven, Chiltern Farm Food specialises in its own pork and lamb products. They even have their own shoot, which means that throughout the season you can pick up partridge, pheasants and ducks, as well as venison and rabbit. Visit the farm shop directly (Wed to Sat, check the website for opening hours) to stock up. The advance turkey order deadline has passed, but you could try your luck on the phone or pop in to browse.
Laceys Family Farm, High Wycombe
This family-run farm does what it says on the tin, providing their own eggs and meat as well as cheeses made from the home-produced Guernsey milk. You can also pick up freshly-made bread, coffee and cakes, and boxes of essentials like fruit and veg. The Christmas order form is online for meat, trimmings, fruit and veg boxes, for collection up to 24 Dec. Visit from Tues to Fri 8.30am-5pm, Sat 8.30am-4pm, or Sun 9am-2pm.
The seasonal stock here is constantly changing, so you’ll need to pay them a visit to find out what’s available – handily, the shop is open daily. Expect delicious, locally-sourced essentials including fresh bread, meats and cheeses. At Christmas, the Emmetts raise free-range geese and turkeys. No details online yet about Christmas, but keep an eye!
Orchard View Farm Shop, Aylesbury
There’s so much on offer at this rural Bucks farm shop that you’ll be spoilt for choice. Pop in for a browse, or shop online at the Christmas Shop, with its hampers, deli and massive butchery selection (what else would you expect from the winners of 2019’s Most Innovative Sausage?). Best of all, you can pop in for breakfast or lunch at the Trough Cafe.
Boycott Farm is asking for Christmas orders to be placed asap to secure your first choice of its local produce, including honey, bread and beers, but it’s the farm’s own stock that really shines. Free-range eggs, Aberdeen Angus beef and the award-winning bacon, sausages and pork pies are among the biggest sellers. You can place orders by phone or email for collection closer to Christmas.
Kings Farm specialises in butchery first and foremost, so it’s no surprise that Christmas is big here and the order form is already online. Orders must be placed by 15 Dec with a minimum spend of £50 for delivery. The farm shop also offers excellent ready-made quiches – perfect for that gazillionth Christmas meal that you won’t want to cook. Click & collect and delivery available.
Pinewood Nurseries Farm Shop, Wexham
This Christmas orders page is live at this South Bucks staple, for meat, veg boxes (don’t forget the sprouts on a stick!), plus milk, cheese, bread, cakes – and even pre-mixed cocktails! Pick up is 22-24 Dec or you can pop in to browse Mon to Sat between 9am – 5pm, and on Sundays between 10am – 4pm. Nosy round the nursery for a festive bloom or two, and check the website for the next pop-up stalls from businesses like Jungs Bakery and Bucks Fish.
Buckmoorend Farm Shop, near Wendover
This small family-run business is all about putting farming first. This means being involved in the entire chain, from farm to fork — be it in the sausages and other meats available to buy for home-cooking, or the hot food served in their kitchen, open on weekends. The Christmas orders page is live with mostly home-produced items and free-range turkeys from the Pearce family in Stoke Mandeville. You can also add veg, baked goods, trimmings and gift hampers. Just email, call or pop-in to place your order for collection up to 24 Dec. The farm shop is still open for browsing Tues – Fri from 10am – 6pm, and on weekends 10am – 4pm.
